Philomena is being honored this year for her service to our club behind the scenes and as a mentor to rising leaders. She has expanded the Public Image team to include website and newsletter editors that keep our community updated. She embodies the Rotarian trait of service by willingly helping whenever she can, especially when assistance is needed to design a flyer or create a form. She continues to serve on the Club Grant Committee and leads the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore (RFL) Community Grant Program. She enjoys getting our club members involved in the schools through RFL's Gift of Reading Program, that gives novels to third graders.
As principal of Granada High School in 2010, Philomena was already joining the meetings once a month to introduce outstanding GHS seniors, so decided to dive in and become a full member. She has served our club in a variety of roles, including Public Image Chair, Grant Director, and President. She has also served two terms on the RFL Board, serving as President, Grant Chair, Communications Chair, and Literacy Project Chair.
Now retired, Philomena enjoys gardening, hiking, reading, wine tasting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She is active in the Alameda County Master Gardeners Program, American Association of University Women, and SELF (Student Education Loan Fund).
