The
Rotary Club of Livermore Valley was founded on April 9, 1985 and chartered
by Rotary International on May 31, 1985. Members of the Rotary Club of
Livermore (the noon club) saw the need to form an additional Rotary club
in Livermore, particularly one that would meet in the morning. Those insightful
men encouraged 45 members of the community to become sunrise Rotarians,
which at the time, was the largest number of members ever chartered as
a new Rotary club. Today, our club membership is just over 70 Rotarians.
Our first President, Bill Webster, brought us Rotary experience having
been a member of several other Rotary clubs. We very quickly became a
cohesive organization that ventured into small community service projects
that our budget would allow. Those first few years were instrumental
in establishing the personality of our Club as an organization whose
meetings were fun, lively and full of comraderie. Those traditions continue
today at the Livermore Valley Rotary club’s Tuesday morning meetings.
You are welcome to join us at 7AM at Beebs Sports Bar, Las Positas Golf
Course, Livermore.
While
being a Rotarian brings new relationships and fun times, the serious
business of the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley is about serving
our worldwide and local communities. The size and breadth of our
community service projects has grown over the years. From
bus shelters in India, x ray machines in South America, classroom
construction in Mexico to replanting City park rose gardens in
Livermore and building storage sheds at a local battered woman’s
shelter, our Rotary Club continues to strive to make a difference
in our world. A complete list of our projects and other organizations
that we benefit can be found on the Club News page.
We fund our service projects with our annual Community Service
events, such as parking cars at the Livermore Rodeo, a St. Patrick’s Day auction and through
the generosity in giving by our membership. Our community recognizes Rotary as
an important charitable resource and supports our projects accordingly. Equally
important, the men and women of the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley unselfishly
give of their time when needed. Livermore Valley Rotarians can be heard singing
Christmas carols during the Senior Lights Tour, digging tree holes to beautify
a parkway and stuffing back packs for needy school kids – it’s the
highlight of being a Rotarian.
Being a Rotarian is to be of service to mankind. Being a Livermore Valley Rotarian
is just the perfect way to be of service.
