Clark Conover, the Principal of Granada High School was introduced by Cheryl Bowers
SEPTEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Granada High School Principal Clark Conover introduced Ayla Gruss our club's student of the month for September and her parents Maryum and Matthew Gruss.
Clark described Ayla as a great student leader who embodies excellence. Her leadership and inspiration for others is evident. She is currently a player and tennis captain for Granada. She has served as a class officer each year she has attended Granada. Her instructors describe her as hArd working and approachable.
Ayla helped to organize homecoming & prom. Through her leadership she raised $5000+ for her class. Beyond the Granada campus she is tutoring tennis and serving as the school board representative. She is passionate about learning and likes to be challenged. She has a 6.95 GPA with a 1420 SAT score. Ayla is taking several of AB classes and has been an intern at LLNL in bio research.
She has been awarded an AP scholar with distinction. Her aspirations are to major in molecular biology at the University of Michigan.

Immediate Past District Governor Jill Duerig introduced our special guest, District Governor Herb Ritter. She has know Herb for a very long time and especially admires his boundless energy and deep commitment to Rotary. He joined Rotary at a very young age and has been serving or decades.
Herb wants us to prioritize attracting new members and to Rotary become more visible in our community for all of the fine work being accomplished by the clubs. Much of the efforts led by Rotary are "behind the scenes" and we should use social media and our own networks to spread the word about the impact Rotary has, locally and globally.
Don't forget to sign up for the District Conference scheduled for October 16 at the Colombo Club at 5321 Claremont in Oakland.
Herb encourages us all to Lead with vision, serve with heart and leave your mark!
