  • Sarah honored the 4 veterans that were at today’s meeting for Veteran's Day. Roy Porfido, Jerry Hawkins, Dick Fields, and Bob Tucknott were presented with pins that Jill had brought for them. Thank you for your service!
TODAY'S PROGRAM: CLUB ASSEMBLY
 
We broke into groups to brainstorm our responses to the following topics:
 
What we do well
  • Fellowship – support each other
  • Support our local community
  • Social activities
  • Support kids and veterans well
  • Love the 10 spot!
  • Bennie has done great with membership
  • Jackie has been great with socials
  • Community outreach
  • Fellowship
  • Raise money
  • Welcoming
  • Getting members involved in projects and activities
  • Distributing workload
What we can do better
  • Joke of the day each week
  • Holiday Rotary float for holiday parade
  • Monthly series/themes, speakers. Consider:
    • Veterans month
    • Domestic violence and homelessness month
    • Science month
    • Cancer awareness month
    • Disability month
    • Environmental activities/awareness
    • Fire awareness
  • Need to do international projects - example, clean and paint houses, framing
  • How do we reach the 30 and 40 year olds?
  • Fifth week dark, maybe we go on tours?
  • Support the new restaurants in town financially with our club
  • One mixer with morning club to get to know each other
  • Thought of the day each weeks
  • Put fun stuff at beginning of meeting (old meeting format.)
  • Songs every week
  • Regularly post on social media to attract younger groups ages 30’s and 40’s
  • Team up with 4-H and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
  • More intentional check in at meetings, self-care
  • Better outreach to millennials, Gen X, Gen Alpha, college age
  • How do we better recruit?
  • More public participation- advertise need for help on programs for example interact, environment in essential as many of our programs as possible
  • Vet holiday party have a Raffle with Prizes, gift baskets, one size fits all, bathrobe, slippers, duffel bag
  • Assist Rotarians who work by making it our meetings hybrid so they can attend
 
Events and Socials
  • Evening events should be standup/mingle events
  • Kudos to Jackie and Bennie for all the fun events Including DeBauchery, Wine and cheese at Wood, Christmas at Sarah‘s, Honeycomb, Game Night at Beth’s, Olivina olive oil
  • RFL – spaghetti hoedown
  • Walks together are great
  • We think we are pretty good at this
  • Invite community back
  • Discuss frequency of socials – maybe pick up trash instead or clean Park?
  • Idea meet at Holiday Village next month to wander together 12/5
  • Bring back joke and thought of the day
  • Invite the public to clean up day publishing Livermore, papers, and website
  • Plant trees
 
Team building (how can we each be part of the team and help out our team leaders?)
  • Interact- Support them with open heart kitchen, supply kits for weekends 60 bags per day, Support coin wars
  • Idea of a bingo card style 5 to 10 fun facts about yourself helps direct conversation and learn about each other with 2 to 5 minute talk
  • Feel like we are pretty good at this
 
Outreach and Branding
  • Have Interact help send messages through social media to promote Rotary goals and projects
  • Have posters, postcards for distribution,  use social media “boost”, Share Rotary posts in our FB and Instagram feeds; share our existing posts in next-door; Make short videos of what we do and post on TikTok and other platforms to promote, and publicize Rotary better
  • Help struggling students at Del Valle high through: Mentorship, scholarship, career, fair, resource, fair, trade fair
  • Consider table or booth at a spring farmers market
  • Zoom meetings
  • Marketing
  • In person booths for events
  • Bring in younger members
  • What is Livermore Rotary  impact? Commission a mural to depict Rotary’s impact on Livermore.  Show who we donate funds to. Promote Rotary through a mural -  consider the side of Peets.
  • Rotary sponsor teacher of the year with 333 arts
  • Let’s make it better - Regularly post on social media to attract younger members
