Celebrate Veterans Day by joining the LPC Vets First this Thursday, November 6, 11:30 AM - 1 PM at LPC's Mertes Theater to hear Army/Navy Veteran Dr. Harold Strunk: Service, Sacrifice, Strength: No reservation necessary. 
 
Beth announced that we'll be back handing out turkeys at CAPE on November 22. Sign up to volunteer.
 
Mark Hudson needs volunteers for the December 7 CAPE Christmas party to set up and take down decoration. Contact Mark for details.
Today's Speaker: Christine Dillman, Executive Director of Tri-Valley Haven
 
  • Tri-Valley Haven mission. World without violence. 

  • Runs the only confidential housing shelter. Provide wrap around services: counseling, housing, childcare, food. People can stay 105 days in shelter. Residents can stay in transitional housing for up to 2 years.

  • They are building a new shelter with 50% more capacity and they’ll be able to take animals with families. 

  • TVH provides legal advocates to survivors and restraining orders. Do not charge anything. 

  • They are the only rape crisis center in the Tri-Valley. 

  • They provide counseling and support groups for anyone impacted by domestic violence. 

  • They provide age appropriate healthy relationship, anti-dating violence, anti-trafficking, and affirmative consent classes to Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin Unified school districts. 

  • Homeless shelter accepted men with children. 

  • Their food pantry: serves 200 people per day and their needs have skyrocketed since shutdown and SNAP. 

  • Thrift store. All residents get to shop there for free. Funds from the thrift store goes to cover homeless shelters. 

  • They need volunteers. Each program has it’s own training. 

  • Holiday program for over 30 years. This year we serve 2900 local residents. Serve 800 families.
