Livermore Annual Volunteer Day

Each year, the citizens of Livermore connect to improve the community around us. Projects vary from cleaning up creeks to improving schools. What will you do to improve your community this year?

CALICO has reached out to invite us to volunteer at the Livermore Valley Wine Auction, of which they will be a beneficiary. Please use this link to sign up. Individual roles have different requirements listed.

CALICO stands for Child Abuse Listening, Interviewing, and Coordination Center. Their East Bay branch has been serving Alameda County since 1997. CALICO provides a safe, supportive space for forensic interviews of children who’ve experienced abuse, ensuring justice and reduce trauma. They also offer ongoing family support—connecting caregivers with mental-health resources to begin healing as early as possible.

This exciting, no-fee Red-Carpet Kickoff event hosted by Rotary, Ambassadors of Compassion, and Las Positas College, enlists celebrities, professional athletes, and everyday heroes to introduce the Ambassadors of Compassion program to these students. The event will rally the entire community around the students’
mental and emotional well-being.

Volunteer requirements are minimal, but we'd love to have most of our club participate to connect with other Tri Valley community leaders and special guests in attendance!

Challenge to support Veterans at Las Positas

On Sunday, September 28 at Las Positas College, we have the opportunity to take part in the 2.2 for 22 Challenge for Veterans Expo. This event raises awareness of the heartbreaking reality that 22 veterans lose their lives to suicide each day.

Create teams, or join solo in competing in various 22 second challenges while sharing pictures using the hashtag #Challenge22forVeterans.

Register for free through September 27, but walk-ins are welcome.

Tech Trek Fundraiser

Tech Trek is a week-long, hands-on STEM camp designed for rising 8th grade girls, and this AAUW fundraiser helps make it possible for more students to attend.

Join us for an evening of wine tasting and a silent auction at Darcie Kent Estate Winery (7000 Tesla Rd, Livermore) on Wednesday, October 8.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with a silent auction beginning at 5:45 pm.

Tri-Valley ROP Youth Innovation Program

Do you have what it takes to be a Student Mentor?

Tri-Valley ROP Youth Innovation Program is looking for volunteers to help students at the alternative education high schools in Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton gain mentorship, career awareness, financial literacy and the confidence to succeed after graduation.

Your insight and experience make a serious difference for our students. Your involvement would be:

Partner with a student mentee for 7 sessions between November 2025 and May 2026. Topics and activities are provided, but your impact will last far beyond high school.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

Career Speaker – Share your career journey and community involvement with one or more student groups.

Career Conversationalist – Meet one-on-one with a student to discuss your education and career path.

To participate, please complete the Volunteer Interest Form. And please share with friends and family or anyone interested in impacting a youth's life!

Bikes & Brews: A Kids Bike Lane Event

Xerces Society Native Pollinator Habitat Kit Distribution

The Xerces Society is seeking 10–12 more volunteers to support their Native Pollinator Habitat Kit distribution at Martial Cottle Park in San Jose. Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, October 20, and Wednesday, October 21, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (4-hour shifts available). Sign up here and fill out the volunteer waiver

 

What you'll do:

You’ll help unload and sort native plants into kits that will go to schools, parks, farms, and community partners across California—restoring habitat for monarchs and other pollinators. Lunch is provided, and no experience is necessary.

Important notes:

Bring sturdy shoes, comfortable clothing, water, a hat, sunscreen, and any clothes appropriate for the weather. Park entrance fees are waived for Xerces volunteers

Veterans Day Celebration with Veterans First

Service, Sacrifice, Strength: Honoring our Heroes

Please join us at Las Positas Colleage in the College Mertes Theater Building on November 6.

The program will start promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Arrive about 15 minute early to find free parking in lots A or B.

The event will feature guest speaker Dr. Harolnd Strunk, US Army Veteran. The National Anthem will be sung by US Army Combat Veteran and Las Positas Colleage alumni Mr. Donald McIntyre. Presentations of scholarship and quilts of valor to our students and staff who were affected by combat will then be followed by a complimentary military appreciation lunch.

Christmas magic takes a little elbow grease too! To help make the CAPE kid's Christmas party INCREDIBLE, we need volunteers on Thursday, December 4 from 6-7:30 p.m.
We'll pack tote bags, assembly line style. Then we need to load them into trucks/SUVs and take them to the event to unload.

VA Christmas Luncheon
Dec. 15, 2025
We will meet at the VA Medical Facility in Livermore on Monday, December 15th at 10:45 A.M. The address is 4951 Arroyo Road, Livermore, at the Community Living Center (Building 90). There is signage throughout the VA parking lot to help direct you to Building 90.
 
The food is being delivered by Melo’s and includes three pasta dishes, bread, and salad. We will prep the food and serve it to the Vets. Our club will also provide cake, cookies, and drinks, which we will serve. The luncheon will take place in the main dining room.
 
Jerry Hawkins will lead us in our Christmas caroling.
 
For many talking with the Vets is the highlight of the luncheon. The Vets truly enjoy visiting with Rotarians and have lots of wonderful stories to share.

Our January 20th meeting will be held at the Wall and Ceiling Bureau Office, 5690 Sonoma Dr, Pleasanton, 94566.

As usual, we will gather at 8:00, start the meeting at 8:15, and adjourn around 9:15.
